Bill is survived by two daughters, Erica Martin (Orion), Alexandria, Virginia, and Miriam Lake (Ian), Columbus, Ohio, and three sons, Dan (Vickie), Luke (fiancé, Stephanie), and Levi (Janelle), all live in Alexandria, Virginia. Also surviving is his mother, Joann Logan Lackey, Roanoke, Virginia; two sisters, Cathy Steger (Gary) Berlin, Maryland and Janet Selleck, Roanoke, Virginia. Bill graduated from Suffolk High School where he started as a football player, attended Bluefield College and the Police Academy in Washington, D.C. He proudly served his country as a Marine. His other jobs over the years were in construction, pest control, and insurance.
Bill was a true sports enthusiast and enjoyed all sports. He played football from the time he was a “little leaguer”. Until his health prevented it, he was very active at the gym, in “boot camp”, and just enjoyed life to the fullest.
Bill’s personality, sense of humor, his loving heart will never be forgotten. “to know him is to love him”. Thanks, Bill, for what you brought to so many people!
