Your Loved One Never Leaves Our Care

Funeral Choices own and operate our own crematory with licensed and certified staff. Many other funeral homes hire third party crematories. These often have multiple funeral homes transferring remains in and out at any given time. This makes it nearly impossible for those other funeral homes to manage and supervise the cremation as well as what Funeral Choices can do for you.

Safeguarding Personal Identity

To ensure security and eliminate the possibility of any error, you can rest assured Funeral Choices places a personal identification band on your loved one, the moment your loved one is transferred to our care. We know who they are, and where they are at all times.

Our Unique Tracking System

At Funeral Choices, every person in our care is logged into our tracking system and assigned an identification number. Thus number is stamped into a stainless steel identification disc. We use this number to track every phase of the cremation process. Our tracking system includes date and time of arrival at our facility and name of the transfer technician. Personal belongings are cataloged and placed in a secure area for their family to decide what they wish to do with them.

Identification Of Your Loved One

We will ask you, or a representative, to positively identify him or her prior to cremation in the casket or cremation container of your choice. This is a requirement of the state of Virginia for anyone wanting cremation as final disposition.

Our Cremation Process

Our high standards require that two individuals will review all cremation paperwork prior to cremation. This ensures authorizations have been received and properly documented. Once all documentation is verified, we proceed with the process.

We record the name of your loved one, the date and time of the cremation, identification number, crematory operator’s name, as well as additional information regarding the cremation.

The crematory documents, personal identification band and stainless steel identification disc are placed in crematory retort with the deceased, and are removed once the process is over.

After The Cremation

After the cremation is complete, the cremated remains are placed with the stainless steel identification disc into an urn. You will be presented with a Certificate Of Cremation when you receive the cremated remains of your loved one. That guarantees all the above steps have been followed.

If you have any questions about the cremation process at Funeral Choices please do not hesitate to contact us at (703) 465-1800.
