Victor Hugo Peck, Sr

His name was Col. Victor H. Peck, Sr. He lived in Alexandria VA. He was born in Norfolk and was raised in Virginia Beach. After completing his high school education at Catholic High in Virginia Beach, Victor graduated from Manhattan College NY. While in college he signed up for Air Force ROTC. He later got his MBA at Syracuse University. In 1955 Victor joined the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant. Early in his Air Force career, he became a Navigator on the B-47 bomber and then legendary B-52 Stratofortress aircraft at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. There he started a family with his wife and 2 sons Brett and Victor Jr.
In 1966 he went to fight in the Vietnam Nam war. Victor did 2 tours and flew 157 combat missions on the C-130 "Herky Bird" transport aircraft. In January 1969, Victor was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for a particularly treacherous flight during the "Battle of An Wah". Victor volunteered that night in bad weather and heavy ground fire to save marines pinned down by the Viet Kong. What makes Victor so special is that he volunteered again for the same mission after his 1st plane was shot up and had to return to base. Victor was always someone you could count on.
Victor leaves behind 3 grand children Brittany, Lexi, and Brandon. Victor was a great father. He served his country with honor. He loved life, was lots of fun to be around and will be sorely missed by friends and family.
There will be a funeral service at the Old Post Chapel on Fort Meyer on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:45 a.m. followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery followed by a reception.
