Vickie Florence Myers left this world on December 20, 2014 after a courageous struggle with brain cancer. She was predeceased by sister Marion (Pat) Ekeland and brothers Fred, George and John Myers. Vickie was one of five children born to James and Gertrude Myers in Boston, MA. She and sister Pat were raised by Lottie and Fred Cooper in Haverhill, MA. Vickie served in the U.S. Army for nine years and was discharged as a Sergeant First Class. She was part of the first contingent of women to be stationed in Italy; Vickie was married and divorced from Joe Kuflewski. She lived and worked in Italy, Michigan, Florida, Maryland and Virginia and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Vickie was an avid golfer, bowler and card player. She will be remembered for her gift of playing the piano by ear, her love of animals, and her kindness and compassion for others. Services will be held Saturday, January 10th at 11am at the Arlington Forest United Methodist Church, 4701 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA with visitation beginning at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org). Graveside service with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
