Born to Thomas and Phyllis Frenzinger, May 5, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, he became very active in school politics and various clubs. He was a talented musician and worked his way through college as a professional drummer. President of his fraternity at Mount San Antonio College, he graduated and entered the Navy in Officer Candidate School.
Tom served in Vietnam as Lt. Commander of a River Patrol Boat detail, unit 594. Thereafter he served on the USS Bauer and then on the USS Oriskany. His final station led him to the Pentagon where he spent many years as a Naval Attaché of foreign affairs. After retiring from the Navy, he began a consulting business to aid Canadian Navsea Corporations to help build Naval ships.
It was in Northern Virginia that he became active with a little church on a hill named Lord of Life. He was involved in many outreach ministries such as Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Highway and most notably, the formation of a recycling program to benefit Aid Association for Lutherans, now known as Thrivent. His influence in the congregation of Lord of Life spanned 40+ years.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Catherine, who now resides in Fairfax and is a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, his sister, Paula, and her husband Bill Foutts of Grant’s Pass, Oregon.
Celebration for Tom’s life will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfax, Virginia at 11:00am on Thursday, February 23, 2023, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Lord of Life’s ReNEWing Our Legacy 2023 in Tom’s name.
