Roy used his skills, charming personality and drive to create opportunities that would eventually lead him to the White House under the Nixon Administration. While there he was instrumental in having the classification of Hispanic added to the U.S. Census and governmental forms.
Roy expressed himself best through his writings and poetry. Over the years he has produced several volumes of work. At the time of his death Roy was working on publishing a book collecting his essays, stories and poetry. His dream and legacy will be carried on by his children and grandchildren.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow is a shadow of yesterday from the sigh of your absence.
Tomorrow is a faint smile of yesterday's joy
Filled with your exciting laughter
We danced to life's romantic tune in perfect step.
Tomorrow are my tears as I bathe in the sadness from losing you.
Where has love gone?
It took flight unannounced,
Like the day vanishes into the dark night.
I awake from a lovely dream that I expected to last forever.
Tomorrow are my memories of you
That shall keep me warm forevermore.
The true character of love
Is that it lives in yesterday and beyond tomorrow.
Tomorrow is our song
That we sang to each other in yesterday's love.
Our music truly touched our souls with kindness and tenderness.
Tomorrow lives in the ecstasy shared so unselfishly yesterday.
Tomorrow I desire to see you in yesterday to touch tenderness.

Roy was our life long friend. He and Al were old Sandusky buddies and Roy became a friend of both of us when we started dating in high school. Roy was in our wedding party along with Bob Bennett and Bob Williams. Those four guys were a singing quartet in high school and re-united at a later class reunion, singing together for the last time. Roy also became a mentor for our son who has embarked on a teaching career focusing on Hispanic students in Denver. He was a gentle man…every phone call we had in later years was inspiring, sweet and endearing. His last visit to us in MI was special…it was almost like a farewell tour. His children and grandchildren need to to know how much he meant to all of us. Our love and sympathy, Al and Ginny
Roy was such a kind man, a devoted and loyal employee, and wonderful family man. He was respected, loved, and will be missed by many.
I miss a friend and former colleague. With symath With sympathy Nesa Chappelle
Roy was the first love of my life and I have thought of him often over the years, especially at the 50th class reunion last year. I should have realized he was destined for greater things but what was I to know back then. I’m sorry I never had the chance to meet him again. My condolences, belated as they are.
