Robert C. Martin II

robert martin ii

March 17, 1976 ~ August 31, 2022

Robert (aka Rob) Carroll Martin II, age 46, passed away at Fair Oaks Hospital on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.  Robert was born March 17, 1976 to Robert C. Martin and Laurie M. Martin.  He was the older brother to Nathan J. Martin.

Rob grew up in a very loving family in Alexandria, Virginia.  Him and his brother, Nate, were inseparable.  He spent his days growing up on baseball, motorbikes, BMX bike racing, jet ski racing, boating, hunting, fishing, and the list goes on.  He was all about the outdoors.  There wasn’t a challenge too big for Rob to accept.  He certainly lived his life to the fullest.

Rob graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1994.  He went on to join the electric trade just like his Dad and Granddaddy.  He also graduated from the IBEW apprenticeship program in 2001 and worked as an Electrician until his death.  He loved the electrical trade and the work he most recently took on to lead in the pre-fab shop.  He was a natural born leader.  He loved and respected all of those he worked with and they the same.  He truly enjoyed going to work every day.

Rob met his wife Nicole in high school.  They started dating in 1995 and got married, September 15, 2001.  They welcomed a daughter, Abigail D. Martin, on November 10, 2010.  She was his pride and joy from the day she was born.  They were best friends.  He was the parent who did all the fun things and he was passionate about every sport she joined and every hobby she took up.  He was the gymnastics dad, the ice skating dad, he was the hunting and fishing buddy, and then he was the softball dad.  Softball became his life.  It gave him such happiness.  He helped coach on her travel teams and had just started with her middle school softball team.  He was the best daddy any little girl could ever wish for.

Rob had so many close friends, old and new.  He loved spending time with all of them even if it was just on a phone call or text chat.  He was an all-around good guy.  To know him, was to love him.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Nicole Martin; his daughter, Abigail Martin; his parents Robert and Laurie Martin; his brother, Nathan Martin; his brother from another mother, Jeremy Gano; his mother-in-law, Deloris Compton; and many more close friends and family members.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buddy and Nancy Downs, and his grandfather, Walter Martin.

A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, September 22nd from 2-5 PM.  It will be held at The Farm Brewery at Broad Run located at 16015 John Marshall Highway Broad Run, VA 20137,
