Richard "Hutch" Hutchison

Richard "Hutch" Hutchison, 84, passed away at his daughter's home in Sterling, VA on August 1, 2017. Prior to moving to Virginia 4 years ago, he reside in Maine for 41 years. He also lived in Massachusetts for 12 years. Raised in Tucson, AZ, he was born in Huntington, WV to Kenos Farrow Hutchison and Julia Hutchison (Adkins) on August 21, 1932.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served throughout the Korean War aboard the USS Diachenko (APD-123). He was a Life member of the American Legion and proudly participated in events with American Legion Post 73 in Corinna, Maine.
Hutch was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verle Belle Hutchison (Peavey) and brother Jerry L. Hutchison. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Hutchison , and Luanna Hansberger and her husband Neil. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as by three siblings, Iris, Bill and Sharon and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Hutch will always be remembered for his friendly greeting to all who passed his way.
A ,memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., on Saturday, August 19th at Church of the Holy Spirit Anglican, 908 Trailview Blvd SE, Suite 200, Leesburg, Va 20175. A memorial service and interment of the remains will be in Maine at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Hutch's memory to: Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org.).
