Pasquale “Patsy” Mappa, 101, of Norwalk, died on May 18, 2024 at The Mews in Greenwich. Born in Manhattan, NY, on July 24, 1922, the eldest son of the late Lorenzo and Teresa (Cichelli) Mappa, he was also predeceased by his brothers, James, Anthony and Lawrence, wives, Mary and Alice, and son Patrick.
A 1940 graduate of Greenwich High School, Pat served in the Pacific in World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart-Chapter #1932.
A retired painter and life member of the International Brotherhood of Painters, he served as financial secretary of Local Union # 17 in Greenwich. In his younger days, he was a volunteer fireman and officer in the Glenville Fire Department, He was also a longtime member of the Ninth District Veterans in Glenville.
He is survived by his daughter Hillary Caldwell and her husband Wayne of Norwalk, two loving grandchildren, Cdr Daniel Caldwell USN, Ret., and his wife Christine Stout, and Alison Caldwell and her husband Stephen Bagadinski, and two cherished great-granddaughters, Ava and Olivia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
