Dr. Pamela Kaye Gauch (Edeskuty) (January 7, 1945-Feb 27, 2025)

Dr. Pamela Kaye Gauch, beloved mother to four children, at 80 years old, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and family on Thursday, February 27th, 2025.

Dr. Gauch was from Hopkins, MN born in 1945 to Jack and Helen Edeskuty. She attended Brigham Young University where she earned her Bachelors degree in Education, earned her Masters from George Mason, and finally her Doctorate from Virginia Tech. She spent her professional life dedicated to the education of children in Prince William County Public Schools where she taught French, English, became a principal and retired as Associate Superintendent of Curriculum/Instruction. She leaves a legacy of loyalty, commitment, and love for her profession and those she worked with for so many years.

Dr. Gauch was a devoted mother to Kathryn Harned, Michele Powers, Barry Gauch II, and Bryan Gauch. They have always been her pride and joy. Her passion for her family shined through in her selflessness and faith in Jesus Christ. You’d often find her at a sporting event cheering her children on or in the service of others, whether that be in her work or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a dedicated servant for which God has a special place reserved.

Dr. Pamela Gauch was preceded in death by her sisters Dorianna Haller, Nonie Parks, Jacqueline Lund, and brother Joseph Edeskuty, and is survived by her sisters Dianna Horntvedt and Ginger Robinson, her four children and their spouses, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.

A celebration of life will be scheduled and announced for those interested in attending. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you say a prayer for Dr. Gauch and family, and take the time to volunteer at your local public school to help the dedicated individuals whose mission it is to further the education of our children.

Book of Mormon

Alma 56:47-48

“Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.”

“And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.”

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. We have lost a dedicated and brilliant educator. My condolences to Pam’s family and friends.

  2. Many loving memories will be carried with the entire Blackburn family. She will be sorely missed and was a giving example for all of her students and kids friends.

  3. Dr Gauch, Pam, was assigned to be my visiting teacher during a difficult transition between high school and young adulthood. Through that connection she and my mother met one another and formed a lifelong friendship. Pam was one of a few last connections I had with my deceased mother. While grieving my mother’s death, Pam reached out with words of comfort and sent me a book “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.” Pam lives on in the memories of those whose lives she’s touched as well as literally in the DNA of her children and descendants.

  4. I am so sorry to hear this. She was a wonderful person who had a positive impact on the lives of everyone she touched. I will always cherish the memories of her visits to my school when I was a principal! We also shared many Superintendent Staff Meetings and School Board Meetings! Praying for you, Pam and your family.

  5. Pam lived her life in service to others. She always gave more than she got in return. I was blessed to share many years of friendship with her. Rest in peace, my dear friend!!

  6. Pam was a beautiful person, dedicated to service and growth. She supported our family through the good times and the tough times with grace, dignity, and joy.

  7. Working under Pam’s leadership in our women’s church organization made such an impression on me. I haven’t had many examples in my life of Mormon women with professional careers. When I started working with her at church, she was finishing up her PhD. I looked up to her as an example of a highly educated Mormon woman, dedicated to both serving her faith community and improving the wider community through her professional work. She will be missed. “Each life that touches ours for good.”

  8. What a wonderful strong Women. As a father of four daughters Pam was someone they looked up to and admired.
Me and Shelly were amazed how she raised her kids and those of the community.
We know what a great reunion you are having with those loved ones in Heaven.
Our prayers for the family but we know she lives on in you.

  9. I am so sorry for your loss.
I worked with Pam for many years as a principal and when we worked together in the Superintendent’s Office. She was always professional, prepared and dedicated to providing great instruction to students.
At the same time, I always admired her ability to keep her family first. What a wonderful mother!
I am comforted by the knowledge that she is in a better place now.
