jimmy griffin, jr.

Jimmy Elliott Griffin, Jr., born May 25, 1972, at age 49 passed away after a courageous fight against colon cancer on December 31, 2021, in Alexandria, VA.

Jimmy never let his cancer diagnosis slow him down. He maintained a positive attitude, worked full-time throughout his illness and showed more concern for his wife than for himself.

A native of North Carolina and a 1990 graduate of Southern Nash High School; he stayed in touch and remained friends with many of his classmates throughout the years. Jimmy joined the Navy in 1991 and proudly served his country for 9 years.  During his Naval service he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Workforce Education and Development and a Master of Arts Degree in Computer Resources and Information Management.  Jimmy spent most of his career after his Naval service working in the data center business, lastly with Iconicx Critical Solutions, LLC as the Delivery Group Leader, where he was a valuable member of the leadership team. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his wife, friends and family.  He particularly enjoyed traveling, boating, golfing, bowling, beating friends at Golden Tee, attending sporting events (he was a huge Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves fan), and hosting cookouts with his father.  Known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and positive outlook on life, he will be missed by many.  Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. Griffin, and his sister, Angel Griffin, both of Rocky Mount, NC.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Christina Griffin, of 18 years; parents, Jimmy and Carolyn Griffin; sister, Bridget Mills; multiple nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Our hardworking, witty, fun-loving husband, son, brother, boss, and friend will live on in our hearts forever.

  1. You were the best cousin anyone could ever have. You had the best sense of humor, loved your family and Christina. You always made mama laugh as soon as she walked in the room, by mocking her laugh. I love you little Jimmy, you will forever be in my heart. ️ See you in heaven cuz.

  2. Jimmy,
You were a great mentor and friend! To see the impact you had on other coworkers was apparent when you would walk into a room, it would light up with the joy you brought to each person in it! It has been an honor working with you and God speed!

  3. I planted a tree for Jimmy but forgot to add my tribute. COVID has had such an impact – I had no idea the last night of bowling at the beginning of the Pandemic would be the last time I saw Jimmy. If I had only known. Jimmy was a great, great person. I will miss bowling with him and sharing beers. I could always count on Christina and Jimmy to help my finish the tower of beer. You will be missed.

  4. Great post, you have pointed out some fantastic points, I as well believe this s a very good website.

  5. I’d need to check with you here. Which isn’t something I usually do! I take pleasure in reading a post that may make folks think. Also, thanks for allowing me to remark!
