James Warren Falk
December 31, 1924 ~ November 6, 2019
James Warren Falk of Alexandria, VA, formerly of Morristown, NJ, died November 6, 2019. He was born December 31, 1924, in New York City, the son of Sam and Fannye (Koenig) Falk.
After his service in the Navy, Jim and Carol (Verber) were married. He completed law school at New York University and began a long career as a patent attorney at Bell Labs during its most productive decades. In “retirement” he worked for BellCore, Telcordia, and the New York law firm Darby and Darby until he was 80. Jim was president of the board of the Morristown & Morris Township Library for many years, and was also an active member of the Morristown Jewish Center. Jim loved classical music, though he couldn’t carry a tune. After Judaism, his religions were books, civil liberties, and baseball.
Jim and Carol made their home in Morristown, NJ, for 60 years, where the family always gathered for Thanksgiving and touch (tickle) football. Some of Jim’s happiest times were spent on Foster Pond in Bridgton, ME, where he and Carol vacationed for 40 years.
Jim leaves Carol, his beloved wife of 70 years; three children and spouses, Jonathan (Laura), Ken (Donna), and Alice; four grandchildren and spouses, Joshua (Kate), Annie (Avery), Seth (Lauren), and Eli (Amanda); his cherished great-granddaughters Harper and Mara; and four nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Jane.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Morristown & Morris Township Library, 1 Miller Rd., Morristown, NJ 07960, or the ACLU of Indiana, 1031 East Washington St., Suite 201, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
