James Duane Galbraith

James Duane Galbraith, 73, of Altoona PA and Sterling VA, passed into our Lords heavenly kingdom on Nov 20, 2013, in Sterling VA surrounded by his beloved family. Duane, son of James Edgar and Helen Frances Galbraith is survived by his three loving children Michelle Pallotta, Scott "Gator" Galbraith and Shawn Galbraith, two sisters (Hazel Bilka and Marie Sutter of Pennsylvania) and one brother (Leon "Fuzzy" Seese of Florida), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Duane was a graduate of Altoona High School '58 and Rollins College '62 where he earned his BA in Economics and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a devoted supporter of his community serving as: a B-52 Navigator and Captain in the US Air Force from '62-'67 during the Vietnam conflict; a 52 year member of the Masonic Lodge/Scottish Rite 32nd degree mason where he served as Worshipful Master of Lodge #288 in Sterling VA, as a Shriner on the motorcycle demonstration team and was an active member at St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg VA. Additionally he supported youth sports programs, coaching many youth soccer and baseball teams. He was an accomplished pilot, an avid Harley Davidson rider and member of the Harley Owners Group "HOG" for many years. He enjoyed hunting, camping and vacationing with his family at the beach. He was also well known to many in the community as Mr. G or Pops, proprietor of Sugarland Shell Service Station.
Services were held in his remembrance at St. David's Episcopal Church Ashburn, VA on Saturday November 23, 2013.
Duane requested that his mortal body be cremated and scattered in the ocean that he loved. His children request that in lieu of flowers a donation in his name be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children (shrinershospitalsforchildren.org).
