Hazel Evelyn Jeffries

hazel jeffries
Hazel Evelyn Jeffries was born December 8, 1922, in Portsmouth, Virginia and left us to join the Lord on January 23, 2018. As a child, she lived in Richmond and Alexandria, Virginia with her mother and brother George, aunts, uncles, and several cousins. Hazel's life was filled with excitement, surprises, and hard work. She started college at Mary Washington College (now University), in Fredericksburg, Virginia in September of 1940 and graduated June 1944 with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation she and her mother moved to an apartment in Buckingham and shortly thereafter she began her career with the Patent Office in Washington, D.C. The Patent Office moved to Crystal City, Virginia in 1968 where she worked until retirement in 1981, as the Secretary to the Commissioner of the Patent Office. Hazel was a world traveler. She ventured throughout Europe and the Holy Land in her earlier travels. In her later years, she traveled throughout most of the United States with well-trusted travel companions. Most recently, she's spent time in Williamsburg, Virginia and the state of Florida.
She joined Clarendon United Methodist Church in March of 1952 and remained a faithful member until her passing. She spoke often of her church family, the beautiful music, and the lovely building.
We will miss her and her gentle ways.

Miss Jeffries Memorial Service was held on January 27, 2018, at Clarendon United Methodist Church in Arlington, Virginia
