Frank David Butler, son of Frank Leforest and Katharine Irene (Gordon) Butler, and loving husband of Ingrid Maria (Hanson) Butler, passed away on 13 November 2024 at his home in Alexandria, Virginia, at the age of 84.

Frank was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, and grew up in the Boston area and the Philippines. Frank’s passion for the sea and flying carried throughout his life. He was an engineer on a wide range of merchant and commercial boats, served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, and found great joy in sailing. He spent many years skydiving and flying before venturing into aerial banner towing, where he built and ran his own company. He was a skilled artist and machinist. His patience, kindness and knowledge made him a wonderful mentor, and he showed his love by helping and supporting those around him.

Frank was a devoted husband, father and friend, and will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Virginia, he is survived by his loving wife Ingrid, his daughters Kristina, Maija, and Lisa, grandchildren Hans and Lev, his sister Gabrielle and many other family and friends.
