Edward Adams Lewis
March 12, 2015
Passed away peacefully following a 2 year battle with cancer on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Son of H. Edward Lewis and Anne Poindexter Lewis, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Melody Lewis, children, Josh Lewis and Jessica Lewis Fowler and 5 grandchildren.
Edward was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and held a degree in English. He worked as a real estate appraiser in Lynchburg, Alexandria, and Fairfax, Virginia. After his retirement in 2004, Ed became a member of the Poindexter Descendents Association and served as vice president on the Board of Directors for a local no-kill animal shelter, Friends of Homeless Animals.
Irreverent, with a fantastic wit and acerbic sense of humor, Ed cherished his family and was an avid gardener and art collector who enjoyed literature, architecture, photography, history and music. He will be remembered by friends and family as a loyal, generous, intelligent, passionate, opinionated, and funny man who loved large gatherings at his favorite Chinese restaurant, Peking Gourmet, holiday celebrations with friends and family, and family trips to the ocean.
Ed leaves behind a multitude of friends and family members. He will be truly missed. A celebration of his life will be held April 18, 2015 at 11 A.M. at The Falls Church, 115 East Fairfax Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. A reception is to follow the funeral service. Flowers may be received at The Falls Church. Memorial contributions to Friends of Homeless Animals may be made in lieu of flowers and should be sent to P.O. Box 415, Aldie, VA 20105.
