Sandra L. McCarthy

sandra mccarthy
Sandra L. McCarthy, age 66, of Oak Hill, VA passed into the loving arms of Our Lord surrounded by her family on April 25, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 5, 1947 in Detroit, MI to the late Bernard J. and Agnes Hoffman Bulger.
Sandy loved life and loved working with people. After her children were older she searched for a rewarding way to give. She found that at our Church, St John Neumann Catholic Church in Reston, Virginia. Working there 26 years she was often the one first seen and talked to by people with their joys and sorrows. Her ministry was to give warmth and caring to all who entered. Many Pastors and Priests came and went but she was known as the foundation of the Parish. Sandy gave much and endured much.
Sandy was the beloved wife of 46 years of John P. McCarthy, loving and devoted mother of John (Mandy Saver) McCarthy of North East, MD, Caryn (Steve) Davis of Ellicott City, MD and Michael (Shawna) McCarthy of Swansboro, NC. Sandy dedicated to making the lives of her grandchildren special each day; Andrew, Aidan, Jacob, Molly, Jack, Shane, Adyson, Sophia, Caleb, Haleigh, and Brittany. She is also several survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1st from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, VA, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, May 2nd at 10am. Interment will immediately follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made at the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) 124 Park Street, SE., Vienna, VA 22180 or March of Dimes (www.marchofdimes.com)

Sandy shared in many events in the life of our family, some happy and some sad, but we will always remember her visit to our home with Molly. We had such a wonderful time.
