Ruvva Gomez Ruiz, beloved mother, grandmother, and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 6, 2025. She was born on December 3, 1933, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, to Gregorio Gomez and Cecilia Ruiz.

Ruvva earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico. She began her career as a driver’s license examiner, later founding Ruvva’s Driving School, which she grew into a successful and respected business in her community. Her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit touched countless lives. In addition, she worked at the Senate of Puerto Rico for many years. After retiring, Ruvva made her home Alexandria, Virginia, where she engaged in her most important job, being a grandmother. There she treasured everyday moments with her daughter and granddaughter.

She married Claudio Fernandez (deceased), and together they were blessed with two children: Jorge Fernandez and Cecilia Fernandez. Ruvva is survived by her daughter Cecilia; her son Jorge; her sister Dagmar; her beloved grandchildren Cecilin, Elizabeth and Frances; her daughter-in-law Olga; and many nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her parents, Gregorio and Cecilia, her brother Manuel (Pipo), and her sister Carmen.

Ruvva will be remembered for her love of cooking, sewing, taking care of her orchids, her unwavering work ethic, and her devotion to family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured and the business she built.  She was a guiding light and an outstanding teacher to those around her. Though her absence leaves a profound void, Ruvva’s strength, humor, and love will continue to echo through the countless lives she touched. Our family is deeply grateful for your love and support during this difficult time.

May God keep her and surround her in His love and mercy. We love you Mami!

  6. What heartbreaking news to behold, I’m so truly sorry for your loss Ceci en Jorge. My deepest condolences. Since I can remember, when I thought of Titi Ruvva, my abuela and Titi Dagmar, the Gomez Sisters, they came across as a fiercesome trio, a force of nature to behold. They possess the charm, the humor and the intelligence to command the room as no other. Strong women, each in their own right.
The feeling I remember most when thinking of Titi Ruvva, is warmth, whenever we met, it did not matter how many years had passed, she was always instantaneously warm and caring. Listening and being present in every minute one had with eachother, offering her advice and making jokes till your tummy hurt of laughing. I will remember her as the matriach that she was and hope Ruvva has found her peace and is reunited with her sister, brother and parents and are sharing a warm embrace and laugh.
A big hug, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
