Born in: Jackson, Michigan
Resided in: Quantico, Virginia

Russell Victor “Rusty” Kuhns, beloved father and cherished member of the Quantico community, passed away peacefully at his home in Quantico, Virginia.

Rusty served with honor during the Vietnam War as a proud member of the U.S. Navy. His service instilled a deep sense of duty that guided him throughout life. After returning home, he built a thriving business and invested in local real estate, always believing in his Northern Virginia community’s potential and working tirelessly to help it flourish.

For two decades, from 2002 to 2022, Rusty served on the Quantico Town Council, making him one of Prince William County’s most experienced local leaders. Those who knew him appreciated his candid approach and genuine care for neighbors with unwavering commitment to his community.

Above all, Rusty’s heart belonged to his family. His three sons—Christopher, Corey, and Zachary—were his greatest source of pride and joy. He guided them with principles that shaped his character: serving others, hard work, and living with integrity.

Rusty was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Bodell Sears, his father, Rolla Victor Kuhns, Jr, and his brother; Robin Vincent Kuhns. He leaves behind three children, six grandchildren, and their families, all carrying forward his legacy of love and service.

Services will be held at the United States Marine Memorial Chapel in Quantico, VA on Monday, November 24th at 9 AM. In honor of Rusty’s generous spirit, the family requests donations to a veterans’ organization or local charity.

Guestbook

  1. It will be two years this year that we’ve owned our home in Quantico town. We met Rusty at one of the town meetings that takes place once a month. We did not get to really know him but when we did see him walking in the neighborhood; he would wave and was friendly and kind. In our fast-paced world where goodbyes often come without warning, it’s important to pause and reflect! Rest in Peace and God Bless

  2. “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.” Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

I am Honored to have known Rusty. Even if for a brief moment. We meet in 2012 while he served on the Quantico Town Council. When ever we meet he would greet me and inquire how I was doing and the family. At times it was short and other times we had time to chat. I am mostly glad that our last conversation I was able to share with him about the Love of God thru Jesus and his Holy spirt.

May the Almighty Creator, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirt. Bless you and your families during this time of grief and celebration of your Father.
I pray that you all will come to the knowledge and wisdom of Christ Jesus. That surpasses all understanding. For the sake of redemption and salvation into his eternal glory.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28

  3. I knew Rusty from high school not personally. But I know he was a great person that everyone spoke good about. Praying 🙏 for his family and friends. May God be the Glory!
