Michael Eckhoff, cherished dad, grandpa, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025 after his battle with prostate cancer. Michael, best known as Mike, was born in Washington D.C. on August 12, 1948 to Mark and Inga Eckhoff. Mike married Alberta Willson in 1976, who passed away in 2020. Mike’s architectural career was spent working for Fairfax County Public Schools, retiring as the Assistant Director of Design and Construction in 2003. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending time visiting family and friends, vacationing at the beach and mountains, taking care of his home and yard of 50 years, and continuing the family tradition of dinners with the family each Sunday. Mike left a rich, far reaching legacy of love and friendship to many. He was known to have a loving and giving spirit and was a friend to all. Mike, who left much too soon, is survived by his three children: Tina (Rob), Michele (Travis), and James (Sarah) and his beloved grandchildren: Robbie (dec), Lauren, Ryan, Emily, Harper, Kellan, and Finley. Mike will also be missed by his siblings Linda Eckhoff-Clark and Steve Eckhoff as well as many relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held for Mike in late May. Please contact the family for details. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or the National Park Foundation
