Fran Anne Caponecchi
Fran Caponecchi, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in New Hampshire.
Fran was the beloved daughter of Arnold and Grace and grew up surrounded by the values of family, faith and kindness. Fran graduated from Brownsville High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Texas, where she was a proud member of Alpha Phi. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, reflecting her lifelong love of learning.
On July 26, 1963, she married August Caponecchi in Houston, Texas. As an Air Force wife, Fran embraced a life of service and adventure, moving more than seventeen times during their marriage and creating a warm and welcoming home wherever they lived. After the birth of their two children, Kevin and Karen, she devoted herself to raising her family.
Fran was elegant and carried herself with grace- a true Southern woman. She was a White House Holiday volunteer and active in the Military Newcomers Club of Washington, D.C., as well as Newcomers Clubs in Ventura Country, CA and Fayetteville, NY. She was an accomplished bridge player and an avid golfer who achieved four confirmed holes-in-one. She volunteered for the Syracuse Symphony and was a member of numerous garden, gourmet and book clubs. She loved hosting and attending luncheons, reading, and watching Jeopardy!
Fran was predeceased by her husband, August. She is survived by her son, Kevin Caponecchi and his wife Janell, and their children Olivia and Gabriella; her daughter, Karen Vogt and her husband Jonathan, and their children Austin and Caden; and her sister, Grace Reynolds and her husband Ben, along with their son Steven and his wife Laurie.
Fran will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 3:00 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association in support of dementia research and caregiver services.
