Charles Clayton Edwards, a beloved son, husband and brother, passed away on October 14th, 2026, at the age of 72.
Charles was born in Philadelphia, PA, on November 2, 1953, to Anne Patricia and Clayton Oliver Edwards. Over the years, he lived in Philadelphia, PA; Willingboro, NJ; Camp Lejeune, NC; Yuma, AZ; and Jacksonville, FL. He later settled in Alexandria, VA, where he spent his remaining years.
Charles Edwards graduated John F. Kennedy High School in Willingboro, NJ and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Steven’s Institute of Technology.
Charles lived a full life and enjoyed a distinguished 28-year career as a Lead Information Manager at the World Bank, one of his proudest accomplishments. He is a published author of Advanced Techniques of Turbo Pascal and co-authored Introduction to Turbo Pascal, both published in 1987.
Charles was so many things. He was kind, loyal, hysterical, and never short of brilliance. He was always the smartest person in any room. He could talk for hours with anyone about science, programming, and most any other worldly topic.
Charles found happiness in life’s simple pleasures by watching one of his favorite shows, Star Trek, and enjoying listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra and Billy Joel. He loved his family fiercely and treasured the time he had with his beloved pets. He will lovingly be remembered by his two sisters, Patricia Anne Mirage of PA and Maureen Bridget Edwards of WV; his nieces Erica Ward and Natalie Mirage; his nephews Clayton Mirage, Zachary Ward and Zane Ward; many Canadian nieces and nephews; and his brothers-in-law Mark Mirage, Ian Halupka and Robert Halupka. He also leaves behind extended family and friends and former colleagues, whose lives he touched over the years.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjory ‘Marja’ Halupka Edwards, and his parents, Anne and Clayton Edwards. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, wonderful sense of humor, and remarkable brilliance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to your local animal shelter, given Charles’ love for animals.

Charles, you always reminded me of our best times working at the World Bank. Our work life was simple and fun-filled, yet full of exhilarating complex technical challenges and long, odd hours. We will miss you. Rest In Peace, my dear friend.
