Mary Jane was born on July 11, 1931, in Indiana. She graduated from Northern Iowa University in 1955 and went on to a fulfilling career as a physical education instructor in higher education. She spent many years as a faculty member with the San Diego Community College District, where she eventually retired. She made her home in Del Mar, California, for much of her life.
Mary Jane will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Gerry; nephews Paul (Jan) and David (Julie); niece Kim; as well as her grandnieces and grandnephews. She will also be fondly remembered by Janice Mayo and Charley Surasky, Nancy and Tim Haugen, and Carl and Diane Schultz, who held a special place in her life. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Adam, and her parents, Stephen and Mary.
Mary Jane treasured time spent with family and long-time friends. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, tennis, and going out for breakfast. A devoted San Diego sports fan, she enjoyed attending San Diego Chargers games and especially loved the San Diego Padres.
Mary Jane will be remembered for the many friendships she built throughout her life, her love of family, and the joy she found in staying connected with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Greg, my husband, was Mary Jane’s cousin. We spent a lot of time with Mary Jane attending concerts, horse races, ball games, eating out and sightseeing. She was a happy, kind and loving lady. One you would never forget! She will forever live in my heart! I loved her dearly!
