Evelyn Berger Kerr was born on December 19, 1939, to her late parents, Ruth and Lloyd Berger, in Reinerton, Pennsylvania.

She graduated from high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She played viola in several orchestras through High School and College. She attended Lebanon Valley College and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University as an Occupational Therapist in 1961. She served in the United States Army until 1970 and reached the rank of Major. She married Kent Kerr on November 29, 1968 and he survives. Her two children were both born in Japan. She then obtained her commercial, instrument, multiengine, and instructors pilot licenses and gave flying lesions at Fort Leavenworth and in Massachusetts. After obtaining a master’s degree in public administration, she worked as a health care advisor at Tripler Army Medical Center.

After she and her husband retired, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she was a real estate agent and active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, quilting and photography interests.

She is survived by her sister, Estelle Hartranft, and her brother, Lloyd Daniel Berger, 2nd. Evelyn died on March 1, 2026. Her daughter Victoria, her husband Alan, and granddaughter Isabelle live in Hawaii. Her son Shane, his wife Judy Kars, grandson Akira and granddaughter Juliette live in the Netherlands.

Evelyn will be buried at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Arlington National Cemetery.
