Patricia Leigh Carter, aka, ‘Pat’ and “Patty Waddy Trisha Leah Carter”, was born in Warrenton, Virginia to Hattie Patricia Carter and Clarence ’Boots’ Horton. Pat was preceded in death by both parents; maternal grandparents, Florence and Pete Carter; paternal grandparents, Lola Horton and Edward Lee; a brother, Gregory S. Carter; and, a niece, Linda Campbell.
Pat spent her life in Warrenton, Va., where she attended Fauquier County Public Schools (Student Support Classes at Central and CM Bradley ES, and Warrenton Jr. HS). After completion of school, Pat began attending Bridges Day Support until 2020. On May 12, 2026, Pat was baptized by Rev.Dr., Dwayne E. Brown. On May 14, 2026, Pat transitioned to be with The Lord.
Although Pat experienced many challenges, it did not deter her from the many interests that she liked, such as, Special Olympics, Camping, Town Festivals, Bowling, making loomed Potholders, Family and Friends Gatherings (i.e. Cookouts, Holidays, and Birthdays), listening to music (some of her favorite songs were, ‘Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Lovely Day “ by Bill Withers; “My Girl” by The Temptations; “Oh Girl” by The Chi Lites; and, “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry…). In addition, Pat had a unique way of referencing her favorite colors as “Strawberry Pink”, “Purple Grape”, and “Blue Monday”. Pat had a fascination of horses, squirrels, butterflies, and birds, especially hummingbirds. Daily Pat would pass out copies of calendars, solicit others to write her thoughts down on paper, or ask for “Dollar Money” (which she would stash in self-made envelopes, taped securely and in various wallets). She knew how to save…she would have an extensive shopping list and if she was told that money was needed to purchase the requested items, Pat would quickly respond with “Pat Don’t Have Any Money”; eventually she would hand over one or two dollars still expecting to receive everything on her list. Pat had an exhilarating and captivating personality that brought us joy and kept us engaged. Although she has gone from our sights, she forever lives on in our hearts and minds.
Pat is survived by, one sister, Joyce A. Carter; four brothers, Clarence J. Carter, Edward L. Carter (Cathy), Rodney Carter, and Leon Carter (Christina); one Aunt, Eunice Carter. Three nieces, Cynthia Carter, Tonya Carter, and Latiesha Thacker (Andrew); three nephews, Edward Martin (Tara), Gregory Williams, and DeShaun Carter. A host of other relatives and first cousins that were bonus siblings.

Sincere sympathy to the family during the hours of bereavement. May God bless everyone that gave love, time and support to Pat on a daily basis. 🙏
Pat gave the best hugs to the people she cared about, and if she liked you, you could always count on her tickling you until your ribs hurt while laughing the whole time. She had such a unique way of bringing joy and smiles to those around her. Pat was truly one of a kind and she will be deeply missed.
I remember the first time I met Pat I was with Anthony. She didn’t just call him Anthony she always called him “Anthony Tyler”. Pat was a sweet lady. And she could make you chuckle too. Rest peacefully. 🙏🏽🤍🙏🏽
