Richard William Saley

Richard William Saley, 84, passed away on November 8^th, 2025 in Houston, Texas. He was born on July 1^st, 1941 in Los Angeles, California to Richard Garnett Saley and Bertha Jane Douglas.

Richard W. Saley is survived by his: sons, David William Saley and Daniel Stephen Saley; sister Susan Barker (born – Saley); grandchildren, Logan Danielle Saley, Sabrina Cate Saley, Addison Jennifer Saley, Raider Rolf  Saley, and Maverick Jacqueline Saley, and numerous family members and friends.

When his nation called he answered by joining the U.S. Army. He earned a Bachelor’s (degree) from the University of Utah in Military Science .  He faced combat serving two and a half tours in Vietnam.  He was awarded 5 Bronze Stars for valor in combat and was nominated for 2 Silver stars for valor in combat. He achieved the rank of Major in the U.S. Army and served the country until his retirement.  He had a passion for exercise and fitness and loved to hike every mountain he could find.

He will be interred on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
