Resided in: Ashburn, Virginia

We’re deeply saddened to share the news of Sohrab Samimi’s passing. He peacefully left us on March 25, 2025, at the age of 92. Sohrab was born on May 22, 1932.

Sohrab was a devoted husband to Mina, his loving wife of 63 years, and a devoted father to Sima and Sam. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Arya, Layla, Meaghan, and Matthew.

Sohrab, the youngest of six children, was a diligent individual who commenced his professional journey shortly after completing his college education. He enlisted in the Imperial Iranian Army, where he distinguished himself through his hard work.

Following his successful completion of the Field Artillery Battery Officer Course at the U.S. Army Artillery & Missile School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, 1st Lt. Samimi was awarded a diploma. He subsequently returned to Iran and dedicated his career to serving as a career Artillery Officer. His service culminated in his retirement as a Colonel, just prior to the Iranian Revolution of 1979.

Sohrab’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

We’re planning a family gathering to celebrate Sohrab’s life. In his honor, we ask that you perform an act of kindness in his memory.

  3. Very classy gentleman. And the fact that he was a career officer in the Imperial Iranian Army, achieving the rank of colonel, reflects on his grit, determination, sense of duty and love of country.

  4. May your father’s soul rest in peace, and may you find comfort in the love of family and friends. We are here for you, sharing in your sorrow and honoring his memory.

  5. Dear cousin Mina, Sima, and Sam: it is with profound sadness I write this message and my deepest condolences. Sohraab khan was such an amazing man, with an amazing presence that I always admired and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him but none greater than you three. I wish you a peaceful transition. RIP king Sohraab

  6. Sam, Condolences to you and your family. Your father lived a long and noteworthy life. May he rest in peace.

  7. So. You departed this Earth, and left behind so many loved ones with broken hearts. Although your were my brother-inlaw, but indeed I always considered you as a kind and reliable friend. Dictionaries are full of adjectives, synonyms, and so forth…and in fact, I tried very hard to find a right word to describe your character. Then I remembered a simple math equation, which says: the closest distance from point A to point B is a straight line. Thus, I decided to describe your character by simply saying you were a GREAT GENTLEMAN. Indeed you did over ride your Earthly accomplishments via your heavenly behavior. Of course, I am saddened by your departure. But. I know you are in a much better place, with your soul being blessed by GOD.

  8. Dearest Mina, Sima, and Sam,
Your beloved husband and your father is with the angels now. He is free of earthly pain and soaring to those loved ones before us. You were blessed to have known him, for he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to family and those who knew him. He will be sorely missed by you and all but know that love never dies and your love is under his wings lifting him to his next chapter, in God’s hands. My deepest sympathy.
