Ryan W. Via, 37, of Centreville, Virginia, passed away on December 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of passion, innovation, and selflessness. Born in Leesburg, Virginia, Ryan was the beloved son of William B. Via (Teresa) and Michelle F. Shapiro (Gerald). Ryan was a devoted brother to Christopher Via and Nicholas Via, a proud uncle to Cayden Via and Cameron Via, and a cherished nephew of Mark Via, Susan Via-Aaron (Thomas), Michael Via (Jennifer), Karen Taylor (David), Wendy Estes (Mark), and Sharon Malacane (Gary). He is survived by his step-grandparents, James Turner and Barbara Fleming, and preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Nancye and George Via, Dorothy Turner, and Henry S. Fleming III. Ryan also leaves behind 13 cousins and his loyal and beloved dog, Honey, who brought joy and companionship to his life.
Ryan attended Westfield High School in Chantilly, Virginia, continued his education at Northern Virginia Community College, and graduated from James Madison University in 2012 with a BA in Business Administration.
A passionate enthusiast of drones, Ryan spent countless hours building, flying, and perfecting them. Through this passion, he founded “RAX Boyz”, a Facebook group that grew into a community of over 500 members, reflecting his talent for connecting with others and sharing his enthusiasm for innovation.
Ryan’s final act of generosity came through his selflessness as an organ donor. In his passing, he helped to save lives, embodying his compassionate spirit and enduring commitment to helping others.
Ryan will be remembered for his intellect, creativity, and the love he shared with his family, friends, and his cherished dog. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the community he built, and the lives he saved through his extraordinary gift.
A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held on January 11, 2025, 1:00 p.m., St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 14640 Soucy Place, Centreville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Infinite Legacy (infinitelegacy.org/get-involved/ make-a-contribution) or Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (ffcas.org), honoring Ryan’s compassionate and giving nature.
May he soar as high as the drones he loved, forever at peace, and continue to shine through the lives he saved.
